Different Types of Staircase

There are 24 types of staircases are available. The types are mentioned below.

Straight Stair

This type of staircase is the most common type of staircase across the world. This straight type of staircase is really very cheap. This type is really simple so builders use this staircase because of its simplicity.

This type of staircase does not need any support and it has to be attached at the top and the bottom. Advantage of the staircase is easy installation process of railings and handrails. Though this type of staircase generally takes a huge amount of linear space so this is very important factor in designing area.

L Shaped Stairs

This type of staircase is very attractive and it also takes less space than other types of staircase. L shaped staircase is also very common type of staircase. This type of staircase is generally straight although it has turn in the middle or closer to the end.

Builders choice this type of staircase because of its many advantages. The main advantage of this staircase that it looks more attractive than any other types of staircase. This staircase also takes less space and it can be used in the corner of any room. L shaped staircase has wider landing.

Though this type of staircase is very complex to build and very expensive.

The U-Shaped Staircase

This type of staircase has two flights of stairs in opposite directions. This staircase has a landing at switchback. This type of staircase is more attractive than straight staircase.

This U-shaped staircase has 180-degree turn. this type of staircase generally takes less linear floor space than other staircases.

Landing of U-shaped staircase has big size and this type of staircase can be handy for a corner design.The only disadvantages of u-shaped staircase are the 180-degree turning point. So, it is very difficult to carry any large furniture to up or down level.

Winder Staircase

This type of staircase is very similar to L shaped staircase. But this staircase has no landing. This type of staircase has cone shaped turning point. This type of staircases is not common in modern residential homes and buildings. It is more commonly seen in older residencies. This staircase is rarely found as front staircase. Now this type of staircase gains the popularity.

Spiral Staircase

This type of staircase is very close fitting but it is also very difficult to navigate. This type of staircase is very useful where space is very short.

It has only one central post and every radiating stairs attached to this. This type of staircases is basically found in beach houses and compact city due to this contact nature of this staircase. This type of staircase requires very little space.

Many city and municipal buildings have this type of staircase as secondary option as it is not easy to navigate. This is very problematic that only one person can use this staircase at a time and need caution because of narrow space of each steps. Moving larger furniture is very difficult in spiral staircase.

Circular Staircase

This type of staircase is traditional one. It was made in medieval period. This type of staircase is large and the steps of this are tapered. The turning point of this staircase is more relaxed than spiral shaped staircase. Circular staircase is very easy to navigate.

The curving point of circular staircase is way more compact and this is very helpful to make architectural central point. This type of staircase requires more open space and this is very expensive.

Curve Based Stairs

This type of staircase is very common nowadays and this is very attractive. This type of staircase does not form a circle like spiral or circular staircases.

The curve of this staircase is very wider this is much more attractive staircase for any style of home. This type of staircase is the most expensive and difficult to make.

Split Staircase

This type of staircase is called as bifurcated. This type of staircase is generally used in entryway of very wider house. This type of staircase has a wider flight at the bottom.

This type of staircase has a huge landing space with two narrow flights of bottom section. The one flight goes to right and the one goes to left.

This type of staircase is large and more expensive than other staircases. This type of staircase makes a big impression to the customers.
