Red Bricks Uses and Properties

Definition of Brick

Brick is a rectangular type of block that fired in a kiln or dried to the sun. It is used in various type of construction (small or big). Brick has two types, one is natural clay and another is sand.

Red Brick Uses and Properties

Red bricks are mostly used in the construction building. Here is the dilemma, how clay bricks are made and fired, differences in quality, different classes and strength, how to select a good brick for the building, and how they should be used on construction work?

What is the Strength of Red Brick?

The strength of red brick is very hard, dense and has been used for centuries as structural buildings, i.e. the red bricks produce the buildings structural strength. Red brick with no reinforcement supports roofs and floors that helped to build large buildings, churches, factories, and tall factory chimneys. This brick build lots of cities which is still surviving till now.

Red Brick Manufacturing

Red brick manufacturing has five key parts:

1. Manufactured clay mixture.

2. Compaction of clay in the mold.

3. Manufactured bricks 50% to 60% silica (sand), 20% to 30% alumina (clay), 2% to 5% lime, up to 7%to 6% iron oxide and 1% to 0.25% magnesia fired in a kiln.

4. The people who do not have any machine, use water added to clay make a soft mud that forms into rectangular size blocks and either left in the sun to dry and then fired on the kiln.

5. Clay firing needs to reach 895?C to 995?C so the silica will fuse together to give the brick strength. Brick mould keep on a little bit over the side due to dryness of little compress of the whole brick.

The Red Brick Minimum Size

Standard size of brick is approximately 9" long, 4?? wide, and 3" thick which is universal to all country.

How to Test Red Brick?

? Redbrick test is same as ordinary brick test .In first, two bricks bang them together which will give a ringing sound.
? Second testing method: You can drop both the bricks on the ground. Hard brick will be brittle strong and break cleanly.

Special Feature of Red Brick

Redbrick combines the artificial components and capabilities of nature with its unique building material. Solid red brick formed under the sway of high temperatures, environment durability, and friendliness, permits you to give the optimum balance of strength and is formed from specialized grades of clay.

It permits even with minor mechanical damage to keep the original characteristics of strength. The void absence in the finished ceramic product provides it with a uniform composition. This is of great importance in cases when it comes to the construction of massive walls which is known as heavy walls to resist the most intense loads.

The Different Types of Red Bricks

Ordinary types of red bricks are different. The total sales of red bricks are more than 15,000 varieties. M-150 in full-bodied performance labels as good varieties of ordinary brick. Used For the construction of the basement marking M-125 which is used For the creation of fireplaces and other devices of air heating special ceramic products of furnace type bricks.

The Measurement of Bricks

The current requirements of GOST 530-2007. NF establishes the red brick general size which is 65x120x250mm. Transverse longitudinal masonry walls are used by this red bricks.

Conclusion

The conclusions of red bricks are following as:

? Clay Soil manufactures Red bricks.
? Red bricks are hand mold made.
? Red bricks have non uniform shape.
? Red brick has two colors (light brown or red), depending upon the type of clay used.
? The compressive strength of Red Brick is 30 to 35 kg per cm2.
? The density of red brick is 1600-1750 kg/m3
? Red brick weighs 3.5 kg.
? Red brick cost about 5 to 8 rupees.
